About 4 miles east of Almunecar along the coast is La Herradura. We drove down into the bay through pine forests, past some gorgeous villas. I wonder if we could afford to live here? It has a very upmarket feel about it and is definitely the best place we have seen.
The seafront is pretty smart, reminds me a bit of Sandbanks. The beach is pebbly but that doesn’t matter. There are just enough strategically placed rocks to make it very interesting. It is a ribbon development along the coast but there is pretty much everything you could need and the bay is really gorgeous. This place has a great atmosphere and is close enough to Almunecar if you needed a large shopping area. As we drive away from the seafront, I notice how lovely the restaurants are – you can’t beat a white linen tablecloth and matching napkins!
We head back up the hill and over the rock, I have heard that there is a marina nearby…..
Wow! This is stunning. A beautiful marina with a beach for diving and windsurfing, there is a German diving instructor giving lessons to some children. At the far end there is a restaurant and sailing club, top banana!
You can swim from the beach or walk down some steps and jump in just off the rocks.
We are near an urbanisation but there are definitely different classes of urbanisation! This is beautiful and I think a villa here might set us back a bit more than our budget but this is definitely a place that will stay in our minds. We might return, who knows?
